The thief does not come except to steal, and kill, and to destroy. I am come that they might have life, and they might have it more abundantly.
The abundant life. A life that is filled with an abundance of – what exactly is it filled with? That is something I heard often when I first started attending the recovery ministry at a friend’s church. I was saved, a believer and Jesus was my Savior. What more could there be, I wondered? Then I moved and changed churches and started attending the recovery ministry at this new church, the church I am still attending. Again I heard about this life of abundance and I desired it, I coveted it I wanted it so badly. What I didn’t realize was that the abundance came in surrendering my life to the One who gave it to me in the first place. Making Him the Lord of my life. I do have it now as I turn from my human (flesh) nature daily and and submit to Him – the Lord of my life. We are afraid to give up the control of our lives to Jesus but I have to tell you that since I did I have a peace that passes all understanding. And sure I have trials, troubles but I know that in His hands my life is reaping that abundance that I wanted so badly. Abundantly filled with His grace and mercy and love.
