1 Corinthians 10:13
No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear.
If God won’t let us be tempted, why do we give in to temptation and where does it come from? James 1:13 says, “And remember, when you are being tempted, do not say, God is tempting me. God is never tempted to do wrong, and He never tempts anyone else.” Well, then where is this temptation coming from? James 1:14 says, “Temptation comes from our own desires, which entice us and drag us away. ” Then why doesn’t God stop us? God allows us to experience them and they are allowed for our benefit. God’s purpose for them is to prove our faith, and they produce character. When God created us – He created us with free wills. God gives us the opportunity to make choices that genuinely affect our destiny. The world’s sin status is directly associated with choices made by Adam and Eve. All accounts of the fall of mankind indicate it was as the result of a wrong choice. So yes, we do have the choice whether to give in to that temptation or to follow what God would have us to do, which would be the right choice!
