A Great Light Shining In The Darkness!

More prophecy from the Old Testament today regarding the greatest story ever told!! The birth, death and resurrection of our Lord and Savior – Jesus Christ. What would the story be without the prophecies of old?? ♥

Isaiah 9:2,6-7
The people who walk in darkness will see a great light. For those who live in a land of deep darkness, a light will shine. For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given , and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God., Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.  Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end. Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, to order it and establish it with judgment and justice. From that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.
For a people who lived in darkness, they could expect to see a Great Light. The Messiah! The Lord Jesus who was the True Light of the world! He is the author and the giver of all light and opens the eyes of our understanding with His glorious Gospel. A child is born and a Son is given, the Son of God – His own Son.  This Child’s name shall be called Wonderful, that He should be called God and man in one person and should have two natures. God became man and was born of a virgin.  Christ is wonderful in all that He is. He gives council to His people and the hungry and thirsty come to Him for food, He is the Living Water and the Bread of Life. He is the Mighty One, and by His mighty works, He spoke a word and diseases were healed. He was anointed by His Father to perform miracles. The Prince of Peace shall make the Gospel of the kingdom increase throughout the land. The prophet Isaiah who wrote this prophecy in about 700 BC spoke of things to come. The Saviour of the world Jesus who was coming and will come again! As we rejoice and remember the birth of Jesus, also take a moment and remember His death on the cross, as the great Redeemer who came into the world as a baby in a manger to redeem us from all our sins and give us the gift of eternal life!
As a disclaimer to this Daily Verse I send out – I have to say that I realize that Jesus was not born in December and I know that Christmas had beginnings as pagan worship. I have been hearing it more and more this year especially as my friends list is growing and I have a wide variety of friends from all over the world. I don’t need a special day to give glory to God for the Gift of His Son! I give Him glory EVERY day!! Hearts and minds of people who don’t know the Lord are tender and pliable and open to Him this time of year as well as Easter/Resurrection Sunday. I am all about Jesus – He is my life and truly my very world. So I guess now I am adding a disclaimer but I will never stop talking to the world about the saving grace found in my King of Kings and Lord of Lords, January through December. God’s love and blessings to all my friends and family!
