Prisoners For Christ.

Today’s bible story finds the apostle Paul and Silas in prison and at midnight they prayed. And they sang hymns to God. Although they were in the stocks and had been beaten and were in the innermost part of the prison, still they glorified God. Paul and Silas were not dangerous criminals but were peaceful men and the stocks were designed for dangerous criminals. The other prisoners were listening to them praising God and suddenly there was a great earthquake. The foundation of the prison was shaken and all the doors opened. All the prisoner’s chains fell off. The prison keeper woke and seeing all the doors open to the prison he drew his sword and was about to kill himself when Paul cried out with a loud voice that all the prisoners were still there. The prison guard was responsible for the prisoners in his area and when he saw what had happened, he wanted to have Jesus in his life too. He believed!  I too believe and pray that you do too!!

Acts 16:25-32

But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God and the prisoners were listening to them.  Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken, and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were loosed.  And the keeper of the prison awaking from sleep and seeing the prison doors open, supposing the prisoners had fled drew his sword and was about to kill himself.  But Paul called with a loud voice saying, “do yourself no harm for we are all here.”  The he called for a light, ran in and fell down trembling before Paul and Silas. Then he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved.” They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved.”
