Live By The Sword, Die By The Sword

After Jesus was betrayed by Judas and the crowd of angry men with swords and clubs arrested Jesus, Peter pulled out his sword and cut off the ear of the high priest’s servant. Peter still didn’t realize that Jesus had to die on the cross to gain victory over death. The Kingdom of Jesus had to advance and might have been brought to a halt if Peter was allowed to continue down the path he was headed.  Jesus immediately touched the ear of the servant and healed him. Jesus’s words to Peter after he cut off the ear of the high priest’s servant with the sword – were to put the sword in its place because those who use the sword will also perish by the sword. Those words are still used in today’s world. Those who live by the sword will die by the sword. Violence begets violence which means that those who live by violence will probably die in some type of violent matter. Living for Jesus means to live in a manner that Jesus would live by. Walk in love for God is Love!!!

Luke 22:49-51
When those around Him saw what was going to happen, they said to Him, “Lord, shall we strike with the sword?” And one of them struck the servant of the high priest and cut off his right ear. But Jesus answered and said, “Permit even this.” And He touched his ear and healed him.

Matthew 26:50-53
Then they came and laid hands on Jesus and took Him.  And suddenly, one of those who were with Jesus stretched out his hand and drew his sword, struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear.
But Jesus said to him, “Put your sword in its place, for all who take the sword will perish by the sword. Or do you think that I cannot now pray to My Father, and He will provide Me with more than twelve legions of angels?
