In fact the body is not one member but many. 1 Corinthians 12:14 (NKJV)

Imagine that someone asked you to build a home and provided you with the architect’s drawing and all the necessary building materials: bricks, wiring, Sheetrock, and so forth. Only the proper tools were missing—no hammer, nails, saw, or pliers.

Sometimes, the Christian life can seem as frustrating. God’s Word tells us what to do—outlines His plans for living—but we do not seem able to get the job done.

At this juncture, we must depend on the indispensable ministry of the Holy Spirit. As our divine Helper, God’s Spirit gives us the tools to accomplish the Father’s will in one significant area—spiritual gifts.

Just as there are a variety of workers involved in building a home—plumbers, electricians, roofers, framers, carpenters—so there are a variety of Christians involved in building up the body of Christ. God has a place for you in His church. He has a job for you to do. He has provided you with the heavenly tools to do it right. Do you know your spiritual gift? Are you enjoying your part in building His body, using His special enablement?
