You probably know people who live in a state of constant agitation. Even on a good day, they seem to be slightly irritated. Something isn’t quite right—the weather, their hair, their schedule, their plans for the weekend, their bank account. And though they are believers and in general are emotionally well-balanced, it is not unusual for them to voice some kind of complaint. At the heart of their lingering frustration is a basic lack of contentment.
So much of what you deal with on a daily basis are things you cannot change, either problems with people or environments over which you can exert no influence. You can respond in two ways: by grumbling and letting the frustration level rise, or by giving thanks for blessings received and looking ahead with peace and hope.
Hold on to this promise: “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me” (Philipplians 4:13 NASB).
