WHO’s TO BLAME?

My son, if sinners entice you, Do not consent. Proverbs 1:10 (NKJV)

Temptation. Every believer encounters it. For some, it is an occasional struggle. For most, it is an everyday occurrence, often resulting in failure. When temptation leads to sin, we often explain our conduct by blaming others, our temperament, our environment, or any other acceptable excuse.

The Greed word for temptation is peirazo. It means “an enticement or inducement to evil.” Although God often tests you in various ways to enlarge your faith, He never tempts you to do evil. That contradicts His absolute holiness. Tests from God are for your spiritual growth. Temptations can be for your spiritual detriment if you yield to them or to your spiritual advantage if you reject them.

Whatever temptations you face, do not accuse God. If you succumb and sin, be honest and hold yourself accountable. His forgiveness always ensures a fresh start.
