TEMPTATION

Jesus said to him, “Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.'”  Matthew 4:10 (NKJV)

If temptation does not come from God, what is its source? Temptation is a tool of your adversary Satan. He desires to disable your spiritual service, distract your spiritual attention, and disrupt your spiritual relationship with the Father. Since he cannot effect your eternal destiny, he seeks to disable you emotionally, short-circuiting your joy and testimony.

The world system is also a source of temptation. The world system is the prevailing philosophy of the age, devoid of God’s wisdom. A quick look at the arts, entertainment, and education reveals an under-lying value system ruled by ungodly appetites and reasoning, not God.

Yet another source of temptation is the power of sin still abiding in each Christian. You are freed from sin’s penalty by faith in Christ but must be delivered daily from its power through His sanctifying Spirit.

Whatever the source of temptation in your life, Jesus Christ can help you overcome it.
