What an excellent devotional this is for today. False teachers and false prophets have little use for the Word of God. They only choose selective scriptures that seem to promote what they want you to believe and they will repeat them a lot.

We are living in the last days, the end of the church age is near. Satan is using every means to pollute and distort God’s Word. He has marketed a variety bibles to please people’s sins. I have seen some of the crazy stuff in these twisted books. The distortions are written all over place in the markets too. A church lady was checking out in front of me at a store just this week and she had a big plaque with a distorted bible verse on it. I see it all the time when I walk through stores or read advertisements. People are getting what they asked for… lies.

If you earnestly want to seek the truth then you need to read an original and authorized copy of the Bible. Unless you know Greek or Hebrew, a King James Version is best. You need to read it all and then read it again and again and again and you keep reading it over and over again. You ask God to make it plain to you, to give you wisdom, understanding and guidance. The more that you study the Word of God on your own the more equipped you will be to discern the spirits and the more bold you will become to speak up and say “Hey, that is not what the scripture says.”

Those who never speak up have a dumb spirit. If you are a genuine Christian then God will give you boldness to speak up when something is wrong. Preachers who do not want anyone hearing what they say outside of their dark den are fakers. Men who have been called out by God to preach the gospel have boldness and they want the whole world to hear the message that the Lord has layed on their hearts to preach.

This is all really simple, common sense. If you are confused then it is because you have been under false teaching and maybe the Lord is trying to bring you out of it!

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 1 John 4:1

Since his prideful revolt and fall from heaven, Satan has been committed to destruction, deception, and rebellion against God. His tactics have not changed; from the first temptation in the Garden of Eden, his strategy has been the distortion of God’s Word (Isaiah 14:12-14).

Many are led into error by those who make deceptive changes or additions to God’s unerring, eternal truth. The best line of defense against the twisting of Scripture is knowing exactly what it says.

Whenever you hear teaching at church or receive information about the Bible, check it out yourself. Find a good concordance to help you locate pertinent passages quickly, and always compare a verse to other similar verses to verify context.

Do you test what you hear? Ask God today for a wise and discerning spirit.
