To open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those ho are sanctified by faith in Me. Acts 26:18 (NKJV)

How do you resist your conquered but still dangerous foe, the devil?

(1) Understand that you fight in God’s supernatural strength, not your own. That strength is yours through the indwelling presence of the “God of all grace, who . . . will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you” (1 Peter 5:10 NASB). Your faith in God’s might is like a spiritual smart bomb that thwarts the devil’s schemes.

(2) Submit and draw near to God (James 4:7-8). You do not submit to your temptation; you submit to God. When you turn and yield to God instead of your temptations, you place yourself in the “mighty hand of God” (1 Peter 5:6 NASB).

(3) Persevere “with all prayer and petition” (Ephesians 6:18 NASB). You are righteous in Christ, and God hears and answers the prayers of the righteous. Prayer routs the enemy, overrunning his evil command and control system with the power and authority of Jesus Christ. Pray quickly; pray hard; pray confidently. You are already on the winning side.
