My times are in Your hand; deliver me from the hand of my enemies, and from those who persecute me.  Psalm 31:15 (NKJV)

Joseph emerged from jail as Pharaoh’s right hand man and saved millions from starvation by administering God’s wisdom over Egypt’s agricultural program.

David came out of the backwoods as Israel’s beloved king. His psalms, many written during his exile, comfort and encourage believers in affliction.

Paul’s jail terms were the study halls where he penned the Spirit-inspired books of Ephesians, Colossians, Philippians, and Philemon.

Each of these biblical characters advanced through his personal adversity in different fashion, but all of their progress (and yours) in harsh times is built on the bedrock truth of the sovereignty of God.

In other words, God is in charge. Your adversity is in His hands. You are never powerless, for His power works on your behalf to accomplish His purpose.
