When He had sent the multitudes away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. Now when evening came, He was alone there. Matthew 14:23 (NKJV)
Once you decide to be alone with God, don’t be surprised if you have difficulty finding the time. In the middle of a spiritual battle the enemy will do anything to distract you from praying, reading, and studying God’s Word.
Because of this, you need to claim the armor of God each morning before you begin your quiet time or daily routine. The apostle Paul outlined the armor and its function in Ephesians 6. You can use his words as a framework for your prayers. Claiming the armor should never become a ritual. Instead, it is a way to remind yourself that God is with you each every moment. Learning how to spend time alone with God opens doors of opportunity for spiritual growth.
Many times prayers may be one way streets with you voicing your needs and never stopping to hear from the One who created you and loves you with His entire being. Getting to know God in a personal way is the most exciting part of life. The One who spoke all of creation into being waits for you!
