Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed. Mark 1:35 (NKJV)
Intimacy with Jesus Christ is one of the most important elements of the Christian life. It involves a lifelong journey filled with joy and immense pleasure. However, learning to love God takes time and a deep desire to get to know Him. Jesus made a point of being alone with the Father. He rose early to be alone in prayer.
Even as complicated as life is, there is still a place where you can find hope and the assurance of a greater love than anything this world has to offer. God’s presence is the place. It is open to you anytime.
In being alone with Him, you discover a deeper wisdom that is fit to handle even the toughest situations. How do you start, especially if you have never scheduled regular time to be alone with God?
Begin this very minute. Close your eyes and sit for a moment without saying anything. Just focus your heart on God and the fact that He loves you more than anything else. Then pray and ask Him to give you a desire to get to know Him better. He will never turn you away.
