I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness. John 12:46
Have you ever noticed how the men and women of the Bible were drawn to Jesus? Read the Gospels and you will find that Jesus changed lives in dramatic ways. Those who experienced loneliness discovered a sense of belonging. People whose lives were shattered by sin were given fresh hope and a reason to look forward to the future.
Jesus brings new life. He revolutionizes the darkened soul with His light and eternal truth. This light goes far beyond the point of salvation. When we live within the light of God, truth and hope illuminate every area of our lives.
Mary Magdalene experienced this very thing. The enemy had tormented her with a deep, spiritual darkness. Jesus set her free from a titanic bondage (Luke 8:2). Nothing is more powerful than the strength of God. We can imagine that Mary, like so many, was brought to Jesus for healing. The Savior had compassion on this poor soul, and in touching her, provided freedom and light to her life.
What does it mean to trust in Christ? For Mary, it was an opportunity to live again. For you, it may be the same. Perhaps the darkness of sin, depression, rebellion, or adversity has blinded you to the goodness of God’s love and forgiveness. No problem or sin can separate you from him. Ask Him to touch you, and He will. Accept His love, and receive the light of His eternal forgiveness.
Lord, touch me. Let the light of your eternal forgiveness and hope shine in my darkest hour.
