Psalm 40:1-8

He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, Out of the miry clay, And set my feet upon a rock, And established my steps. Psalm 40:2

How do you respond to the times your circumstances seem out of control? Many find themselves caught up in a fast and furious pace without thinking about what they are doing.

Each of us faces moments when life requires a change of plans. Sudden and unplanned interruptions or crises have the potential to send us reeling toward disaster. However, as a believer, you do not have to submit to mind-boggling actions.

Jesus kept a rigorous schedule that was often accented by what seemed to be emergencies or unscheduled delays. Yet never once was He taken off guard nor did He become fractious over the needs and desires others placed on Him.

Jesus never rushed or hurried anywhere. He was never surprised by His circumstances. He had a mission and purpose, and He never became frantic over whether it would become a reality. He knew it would because He was kept by the power of God.

You can gain your greatest sense of control by knowing that God’s hand of providence guides your life. There is never a time, a trial, or a temptation when you are outside His presence. He is able to grant victory over the most unreasonable situation. Allow Him to be your strength in whatever you are facing. The prophet Isaiah wrote, “In quietness and trust is your strength” (Isaiah 30:15 NASB). True victory is found here.

Father, help me to remain quiet and confident when circumstances seem out of control, knowing that they are actually under Your divine control.
