STRENGTHEN YOUR GRASP

1 Corinthians 9:24-27

Do you know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it. 1 Corinthians 9:24

In times of brokenness, you may notice that you are having trouble keeping your perspective. Trial, heartache, and disappointment can water the thoughts of weariness and discouragement.

There is nothing wrong with asking God to encourage your heart, especially if you are having trouble keeping your spiritual focus. Paul found solace in God’s friendship and the love of others. At the end of his life and during a time of tremendous emotional stress, he wrote asking Timothy to come to him.

Jeremiah, Elijah, and David faced similar periods of brokenness that threatened their spiritual and emotional well-being. However, they were able to keep their spiritual focus by practicing the presence of God. They found victory and hope in worshiping and praising Him even if trouble abounded on every side.

When we face times of difficulty, the greatest temptation is to give up. Paul used an analogy of a runner to show us how to handle brokenness when it comes: “Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win” (1 Corinthians 9:24 NASB).

When you keep your heart locked on the goodness of God, you become like an athlete in training. A higher call is waiting, and you must be prepared for the challenge. Strengthen your spiritual grasp, and God will grant you a mighty victory.

Lord, help me to keep my priorities in times of trouble. Strengthen my spiritual grasp, and grant me a mighty victory.
