Psalm 61

Thus says the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel: “In returning and rest you shall be saved; In quietness and confidence shall be your strength.” Isaiah 30:15

God allows storms to touch our lives only when there is a need. Just as He waters and purges the land, He uses the storms of life to water and purify our souls.

When a storm erupts, we may frantically try to solve the situation or understand what we have done wrong. Did we say something that hurt another? Was sin involved and we failed to confess it? Or did we forget to spend time alone with God in prayer?

The prophet Isaiah wrote that our strength comes from trust in God (Isaiah 30:15). When life gets tough and feels as though everything will come apart, stop rushing and wondering, and run to Jesus. He is the Anchor of your soul, the One who is strong and faithful and has promised never to abandon you.

He will never turn His back on you. Even if trouble comes as a result of a sin or transgression, He remains faithful to you. He has never given up on anyone, and He will not start with you. You are His beloved, and He has a plan for your life. So you can begin again today.

He knows the intensity of the winds that whip at your heart. Let these winds become a catalyst of future blessing. Ask the Lord to show you how to respond to the pain you are feeling, then make a commitment to be quiet and still in your spirit. Walk closely with Him, and know that He will renew your hope.

Dear heavenly Father, let the winds of life become a catalyst of future blessing. Show me how to respond to the pain I am feeling. Help me to be quiet and still in my spirit and walk closely with You through the storm.
