SPIRITUAL TREASURE

Jesus made the Scriptures so clear to understand about not building material wealth on this earth, but rather we should concern ourselves with our own personal relationship with the Lord, generously giving to others in need, and FOLLOWING ONLY HIM, not your pastor and not some tv evangelist.

This is opposite teaching from what we hear coming out of the Trinity Broadcasting Network of apostate preachers who have convinced fake Christians to be ‘worldly.’

Matthew 6:19-21

Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, “One thing you lack: Go your way, SELL WHATEVER YOU HAVE and GIVE TO THE POOR, and you will have TREASURE IN HEAVEN; and come, and take up the cross, and FOLLOW ME.” Mark 10:21

If you have an attic, you have probably had the experience of a clean-out-the-attic day. Maybe it’s raining outside, and since you can’t think of a reason to put off the task any longer, you begin working. You turn on the light, brush the dust off some lids, and start opening boxes. Each discovery leads to a memory, and it’s not long until you’re not really cleaning out anymore.

Two things impress you: the passing of years and the impermanence of material goods. Your mother’s old tablecloth is discolored and moth-eaten; the stack of papers from school is yellow and brittle. No matter how much you may try to preserve these items, time takes its toll.

That is why it is so crucial for the real valuables of your life to be made of material not subject to decay. Jesus said, “DO NOT LAY UP FOR YOURSELVES TREASURES ON EARTH, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:19-21).

Of course, Jesus was speaking of spiritual treasure, the kind you accumulate as you allow Him to work through your life through the power of the Holy Spirit. Which kind of treasure are you saving for?

Dear Lord, please work in my life through Your power and grace. I want to lay up spiritual treasures in heaven.
