Isaiah 53

Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Matthew 11:29

Have you ever been on a hike and had to carry a backpack? Even if there weren’t many supplies inside, those few extra pounds probably took their toll on your energy. When you stopped for a rest and slid off straps from your shoulders, that moment of unburdening was delicious.

You may be carrying spiritual burdens right now and not know you are bearing extra “pounds.” Unconfessed sin, unnecessary guilt, anxiety, fear, depression—these are just a few of the loads you could be laboring under. God didn’t design you to function this way. That is why He sent a caring, gentle, loving Savior to take care of these problems for you through His forgiveness and grace.

“Surely our griefs He Himself bore, And our sorrows He carried; Yet we ourselves esteemed Him stricken, Smitten of God, and afflicted. But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, And by His scourging we are healed. All of us like sheep have gone astray, Each of us has turned to his own way; But the Lord has caused the iniquity of us all To fall on him” (Isaiah 53:4-6 NASB).

Jesus wants you to lean on Him and hand over your burdens, all of them. When you do, you’ll experience a lightness of spirit that knows no bounds.

Lord, thank You for taking care of all my problems through Your forgiveness and grace. I am handing over my burdens to You—all of them!
