John 9:1-12

As Jesus passed by, He saw a man who was blind from birth. John 9:1

Remember the last time you learned something new about God? It was as it a door was opened to you that you had never passed through before. Up until that moment, you had experienced a certain degree of spiritual blindness; then God revealed his Word to you, and you received His truth into your heart and not just your mind.

That was what happened when Jesus healed the man born blind. Eyes that were unaccustomed to seeing the world’s environment were suddenly given sight. The people asked, “Who sinned, this man,  or his parents, that he should be born blind?” Jesus offered an explanation: “It was neither that this man sinned, nor his parents; but it was in order that the works of God might be displayed in him” (John 9:2-3 NASB).

Far too often, we rush to believe negative thoughts. The important lesson here is not whether or not sin was involved, but that God had opened this man’s eye’s. When you walk in spiritual darkness, God wants to give you spiritual insight. He is always in the process of bringing spiritual healing and fullness to your life.

The man born blind was destined for a miracle. From his birth, God had ordained the day of his healing. It is just as important to the Lord when you suddenly receive your eyesight in an area in which you were once spiritually blind.

Open my eyes, Lord. Heal my spiritual blindness.
