2 Peter 3:11-18

Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen. 2 Peter 3:18

Many think tennis is a game of power and strength, but it much more. It is also a game of strategy and endurance. Hours of practice and dedication are needed if one wants to become a better player.

The Christians whom Peter addressed in 2 Peter 3 had gained a great deal of spiritual knowledge over the years, but they stopped growing spiritually. They thought they knew all they needed to know. The spiritual danger was not the temptation to deny their faith, but to become complacent and drawn away by a lack of spiritual dedication.

Peter exhorted them to be on guard lest they be carried away by error. Spiritual growth is not meant for a season; it is to be a lifetime activity.

The measure of our spiritual growth is always found in Christ. The more time we spend with Him, the more we become like Him. Ask Him to help you make a commitment to Him and His Word. Dedication, endurance, and practice of the things of God are the winning combination for spiritual growth.

Lord, help me to make a commitment to You and Your Word. As I spend time in prayer and Your Word, make me more like You.
