A SEASON OF WAITING

Genesis 16:1-6

Blessed be the Lord, Because He has heard the voice of my supplications! Psalm 28:6

He was in desperate need of a car. The one he had driven for ten years had finally broken down. God had always provided for his needs throughout his life. This time, however, he could not imagine how the provision would come.

Each time he prayed about the situation he felt the Lord saying the same thing: “Trust Me.” But after weeks of hunting of rides to work and rearranging schedules for his family, he decided to go to a local car dealership. As he listened to the salesman, he could sense an uneasiness within himself.

He knew the Spirit of God was warning him to go home, but he trued to ignore it. He was tired of waiting, and he wanted action. Could he possibly disobey God and justify his actions?

That night as he closed the door to his home, he saw the worried look on his wife’s face. “I couldn’t do it,” he said. “We’ll have to trust God for a solution.” She breathed a sigh of relief and said, “While you were gone, a man from the church called. He has a nice car he wants to give us.”

God always provides what we need when we need it. However, sometimes that may require a season of waiting. Make sure you don’t try to fill in any gaps along the way as Abraham did. God’s reward is yours if you are willing to wait and trust Him to meet the need in His way.

Lord, I don’t want to fill the gaps with my own plans. Make me willing to wait and trust You to meet my needs in Your way.
