James 4:3-7

Submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. James 4:7

Satan’s strategy includes the destruction of the church body, society, and nations, not just the torment of the individual believer. That was why Paul implored the Ephesians to be in constant prayer for all saints.

By craftily waging war on an individual basis, he can turn our focus of prayer away from the body of Christ to the problems of self. This breakdown of prayer focus can be the beginning of a snowball effect of carnal selfishness.

Society shows proof of this tearing down in many areas. Anthony Evans explains in America’s Only Hope:

The loss of mankind’s fellowship with God and participation in His will has staggering repercussions for individuals, families, and nations. Fellowship with God along produces purpose in life. A lack of purpose in life eventually leads to despair that we try to alleviate with drugs, sex, and materialism. Purposelessness in families is evidenced by no-fault divorces, abuse of wives and children, incest, and a desire for perpetual entertainment.

Pray daily for your brothers and sisters in Christ. Ask God to keep you sensitive to the spiritual needs of others.

Dear God, keep me sensitive to the spiritual needs of others. Remind me to pray daily for my brothers and sisters in Christ.
