WHAT IS YOUR CHOICE?

Luke 23:19-44

Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.” Luke 23:43

People often say, “If I only had one day to live, this is what I would do.” They go on to list various activities and desires. The truth is, none of us knows when we will draw our last breath. Only God knows this.

The two thieves sentenced to die at the same time as Jesus were totally unprepared for what they were about to face. At the end of their earthly lives, one continued to resist God’s saving love while the other humbled himself and asked Jesus to save him. What a difference that request made in his spiritual life.

One of the men died without God; the other died with the peace of knowing that that very day he would walk with the Lord Jesus Christ in paradise.

Some scholars believe that hell is a place where some will live for eternity with the realization of what they have done by denying God’s love. A destiny like this is more horrendous than the mind can imagine—eternal separation from everything that resembles hope, light, and love. Jesus Himself called hell a fiery place.

Life does not have to end with this type of destiny in mind. Just as Jesus was willing to save both men, He will save  you. There are two choices, but only one leads to eternal life and the wonder of experiencing God’s glory and love for eternity. Which one will you choose?

Lord, I choose the path that leads to eternal life and the wonder of experiencing Your glory and love for eternity. Thank You for showing me the way.
