As the deer pants for the water brooks, so pants my soul for You, O God. Psalm 42:1
God doesn’t want us to fear Him in such a way that we avoid coming to Him in prayer and worship. God calls us to stand in awe of His wondrous power and ability.
In your heart, God needs to be God, the great I AM. Let a sense of worship that clings to Jesus Christ be engraved in your life. Even in small devotional times, recognize that all-powerful God is near and He is aware of your every need. Worship Him not because He commands it, but because you are driven to love and honor Him. The psalmist proclaimed, “As the deer pants for the water brooks, So my soul pants for Thee, O God” (Psalm 42:1 NASB).
God’s love motivated Him to send His only Son to earth. Jesus came to teach us about His Father’s intimate love for each one of us. When we ignore God or fail to honor Him with our lives, we are the ones who suffer.
Many view God as being someplace way up in the heavnlies and not present here on earth. But God is actively involved in His creation. Before His death, Jesus told His disciples, “I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you” (John 16:7 NASB).
As a child of God, you’re in His presence through the power of the Spirit. Therefore, fear Him for His majesty. Love Him for His eternal care over your life. And live in the truth that He will never stop loving you.
Lord, help me to live in the truth that You will never stop loving me. Thank You for Your presence through the power of the Spirit.
