Romans 5:6-11

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8

We have all been disappointed on some occasion by someone we love. Many of us have experienced the pain of abuse, betrayal, or abandonment. The remnants of these events often create “memory scars” upon our hearts, causing us to be wary of trusting or loving someone again.

As difficult as it is for our human minds to understand, God’s love is complete and unconditional. He is perfect, and therefore capable of exhibiting perfect love. The sheer magnitude of His all-emcompassing adoration can be overwhelming. However, God wants us to know that we are worthy of His love. While we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8).

Can you imagine loving someone enough to allow your only child to die for him? God loves you that much. Before you were born, He allowed His Son, Jesus, to be sacrificed to release you from the debt of sin.

For this great act of sacrifice, God requires no repayment. He only asks that you accept His gift of love. If pain from past hurts has caused you to feel isolated and afraid to love, take hope. There is One who will never disappoint you.

Ask God to heal your heart so that you can begin to comprehend the assurance of His loving hand upon your life from this moment forward.

Dear God, heal my heart so that I can comprehend the assurance of Your loving hand upon my life, knowing that You will never hurt or disappoint me.
