A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the treasure bringeth forth evil things. Matthew 12:35
Many things viewed as treasures these days are nothing more than useless items serving little purpose other than collecting dust – that is if you ask someone other than the person possessing the treasure. As the old saying goes, one man’s junk is another man’s treasure. Yet there are some things considered treasures by all such as love, friendship, and health. The average person would agree those are priceless treasures.
Priceless treasures are the kind about which Jesus spoke in today’s devotional passage. The Pharisees accused Jesus of something untrue, and in response Jesus spoke of the treasure chests of our hearts. What we treasure will reveal itself because it reproduces in our hearts and overflows out of our mouths. A good heart is a priceless treasure that spills over into every area of our lives, making us rich beyond measure.
Lord, give me the desire to store up good treasure in my heart so my life can overflow with good things.
